5. INSTALLATION
-
Apply by spray, brush, or roller.
-
Surface Preparation:
Abrasive blasting to SSPC-SP6 is normally recommended. However, power tool or hand tool cleaning in accordance with SSPC-SP3 or SSPC-SP2 is acceptable. Remove all dirt, oil, grease, rust scale and contaminants. New galvanized metal must be free of form oils and may require light sanding or etching.
-
Mix thoroughly before using. Maybe mixed with water up to 5%.
-
Apply at temperatures above 50ºF, and only when weather conditions will permit drying before rain, dew or freezing temperatures.
-
Cool temperatures and high humidity retard cure.
6. LIMITATIONS
Surface must be clean and dry. Application is not recommended on roofs with slopes less than 1/8 in 12 or where ponded water is present. Do not apply over wet substrates or when inclement weather is imminent. Complete cure of RustShield requires complete evaporation of water. Cool temperatures and high humidity retard cure. Do not leave product exposed to elements for more than 48 hours to prevent weathering and dirt pick up that will compromise adhesive performance properties.
7. STORAGE
Store materials between 40ºF and 100ºF to prevent damage to products. Do not store at high temperatures or direct sunlight. Protect all materials from freezing during transit, handling, storage, and installation. Minimum one year shelf life if stored at 40°F-90°F.
