Create Custom Slope and Gain Reflectivity with an SPF Roofing System

Posted by Nicole Gale on Tue, Jul 19, 2016 @ 11:00 AM

spf_image.gifSpray polyurethane foam (SPF) roofing has had a long history of success for the past 40 plus years. This type of roofing substrate offers excellent waterproofing capabilities, insulation values, reflectivity, lower energy costs, lengthen roof lifespan with lowered roof maintenance, and custom tailored slope to accommodate your roofs’ particular needs.

The SPF is a two-component system of polymeric isocyanate "A-Component" and a water/Enovate 3000 (HCFC-245fa) blown "B-Component” which is spray applied onto the roof allowing roofing contractors to form custom slopes, to guide water to run into proper drainage areas, eliminating any ponded water issues. The spray application not only fills low spots on the roof but also fills gaps around roof penetrations and transitions for superior waterproofing.

National Coatings offers several different coatings that provide superior reflectivity to block the suns UV rays from damaging the foam, allowing the SPF roofing system to properly function for a long time. The capability to reflect the sun’s heat away from the building also keeps the inside of the building at a cooler air temperature, allowing you to save money on air conditioning cooling costs.

Download our FREE Guide on SPF Roof Coating SystemsThere is a roofing system engineered to last the life of your building. AcryShield® SPF Roofing Systems do not degrade like other roofs. The redundant waterproofing from long-lasting sprayed polyurethane foam (SPF roof) and high-performance acrylic roof coating also eliminates UV attack and deterioration. Roof performance properties in year 15 are equivalent to the initial installation. Consider the National Roofing Foundation’s comprehensive SPF sprayed polyurethane foam roof study where Dr. Rene M. Dupuis of Structural Research, Inc. concludes, "The field data…demonstrates that SPF roof systems provide long term performance and sustainability."

Achieve big boosts in your R-value with this fully-adhered, seamless, waterproofing system that has outstanding impact strength. Eliminate the most challenging problem of ponding water by custom tapering your roof as it is applied. All our AcryShield SPF Roofing Systems offer excellent value.

  • SPF adds custom insulation to the roof and provides a monolithic, closed cell waterproofing layer over the entire existing roof field.

  • SPF is self-flashing and provides a custom slope roof to eliminate drainage problems.

  • AcryShield base coats provide an additional foundation layer of excellent waterproofing and provides many additional benefits such as superior adhesion and resistance to ponded water.

  • AcryShield top coats provide industry leading UV protection, longevity and brightness. Our top coats are formulated for superior dirt pick-up resistance and protection against biological attack, such as algae and mold.

  • Brilliant White Armor™ Roofing granules may be added for appearance, impact and foot traffic protection, improved traction across the roof surface and enhanced durability.

SPF Roofing Systems Provide Resistance to Heat Transfer to Current Roofs Lacking Sufficient Insulation

Posted by Nicole Gale on Tue, Nov 24, 2015 @ 11:00 AM

SPF Roofing SystemSprayed polyurethane foam (SPF) technology has been performing as an excellent means of insulation for over 50 years. When the polyurethane technology was first introduced, it was used as a barrier of heat and cold transfer in refrigerators. Since then, it has become a popular means of insulating a building, keeping the heat inside the building during cold months, and keeping the cool, air-conditioned air from escaping the building during the warm months.

These systems are ideal for avoiding a costly and time-consuming roof replacement when your current roof is not capable of performing as necessary. SPF roof systems are spray applied directly over your existing roof, creating a monolithic, closed cell waterproofing layer with custom insulation, providing excellent resistance to heat and cold transfer. This allows you to reduce cost and energy usage associated with creating a comfortable temperature inside the building.

The AcryShield SPF Roofing System is National Coatings’ spray foam system. This system can be applied over BUR, asphalt, concrete, metal, Mod Bit, and wood substrates. Initially the SPF is applied directly over the roof deck or existing roof, a layer of AcryShield base coat is then sprayed on top of the SPF providing a foundation layer of waterproofing with superior adhesion. Next, an AcryShield topcoat is applied, offering outstanding UV protection, longevity and brightness. Our topcoats are formulated to provide superior resistance to dirt pick-up from air borne contaminants, which allows the coating to remain highly reflective. Finally, a layer of RoofGuard Granules may be embedded into the topcoat for appearance, as well as, impact and foot traffic protection. These granules also improve traction across the rooftop while providing enhanced durability.
