Apply an AcryShield Roof Management (ARM) System for Roof Maintenance

Posted by Nicole Gale on Thu, Aug 11, 2016 @ 11:00 AM

acryshield_arm_diagram.jpgRoof maintenance systems provide protection, durability and a lengthened lifespan. When your roof begins experiencing water infiltration, or aging and deterioration issues, a roof maintenance system can be installed to preserve and enhance your current rooftop. Reusing your existing roof and coating it with a roof coating system, allows you to remain open for business during the restoration process and you avoid a costly and timely traditional roof tear-off.

The AcryShield Roof Management (ARM) System is specifically designed for roof maintenance. It is a seamless, monolithic membrane that provides excellent weatherproofing and strength. This system also adds and/or boosts reflectivity to provide the maximum UV blocking protection against the main cause of roof leaks and failures - the sun’s harmful UV rays.

Apply the ARM System in few simple steps:

Preparation

  1. Make sure the rooftop is completely clean and free of any debris that would prevent proper adhesion. (Read: A Simple Test to Determine if your Asphalt Coating will Adhere – this can be applied to any roofing substrate)
  2. Seal all joints, roof penetrations, leaks, etc… with AcryFlex and add reinforcing polyester fabric or butyl seam tape where necessary.
  3. If there are areas where water accumulation is an issue, a custom localized reinforcement may be applied. In this case, apply an AcryShield base coat at the rate of 2 gallons per 100 square feet, approximately 46 inches wide. Immediately embed 40-inch wide polyester reinforcing fabric into the wet base coat, and then with a second coat of AcryShield basecoat, cover the fabric at a rate of 1 gallon per 100 square feet. Allow coating to dry (typically 8-24 hours depending on weather conditions) before proceeding to application of the remainder of the roof coating system.

Application

  1. Spray, brush or roll the entire roof surface evenly with an AcryShield base coat consisting of 1.5 gallons per 100 square feet. Wait for base coat to dry - typically 8-24 hours.

    • These AcryShield base coats provide excellent waterproofing, superior adhesion, resistance to ponded water, bleed through protection and resistance to plasticizer migration.

  2. Spray, brush or roll the entire roof surface in a crosshatch technique with an AcryShield topcoat consisting of 1.5 gallons per 100 square feet. Allow coating to dry completely before exposing the rooftop to any foot traffic.

    • The AcryShield top coats provide industry leading UV protection, longevity and brightness. These roof coatings are formulated for superior dirt pick-up resistance and protection against biological attack, such as algae and mold.

6 Benefits of a Roof Coating System for Your Commercial Building

Posted by Nicole Gale on Tue, Jul 26, 2016 @ 11:58 AM

001.jpg

  1. Fully Restored, Seamless, Weatherproofing System - Roof Coating Systems are monolithic membranes that are spray applied across your roof, around pipes, hatches, and other equipment found on the roof top to fully seal and waterproof your roof. When sprayed, the coating melts together if you will, so there are no seams, or patches around those hard to seal and reach areas.

  2. Cost Effective – Roof coatings are applied directly on top of your existing roof, speeding up installation time and reducing costs, as the systems are not as labor intensive as the installation of a new roof. A roof restoration system does not require the existing roof to be torn off, eliminating the contribution of landfill waste and costing you less, as you do not need to pay landfill fees.

  3. Sustainable - These systems are renewable and can be re-coated every 10+ years to lengthen the roof-life, renew the reflectivity, and ensure excellent waterproofing capabilities.

  4. Environmentally Friendly – Restoring your existing roof and reusing the current materials drastically reduces landfill waste and improves the environment. Many of our coating contain ultra low or zero VOC’s and can qualify for the US Green Building Council’s LEED program for Sustainable Sites, Energy and Atmosphere, and Materials and Resources.

  5. No Major Disruptions to The Work Environment During Installation – A huge cost advantage to both the AcryPly and ARM systems are they do not require a business to close during installation. The systems create minimal noise and have low odor (often zero VOC’s), allowing you to conduct business as usual with less disruption to the occupants inside the building. Installing a new roof can take upward of a few weeks, costing business owners a great amount of revenue loss while their business is closed during the installation process. Restoring your low-slope, commercial roof is far cheaper, quicker, and is much less disruptive to your buildings’ occupants than completing a traditional roof tear-off and new roof install.

  6. Reflectivity - Highly reflective top coats provide excellent UV protection to your rooftop. This additional protection adds years to your roof and reduces roof maintenance costs. Highly reflective roof coatings also deliver a cooler and more comfortable environment inside the building with less air conditioning usage, ultimately lowering your energy utility costs.
