Selecting the Right Cool Roof System

Restoration Systems - AcryPly® Roofing System

Restoration
  • LiquiSeal™ emulsion economically fills in any cracks and voids typically found in asphalt roofing, providing an added level of waterproofing and an excellent foundation upon which to build the balance of the membrane. Where roof substrates are smooth, such as with an existing single-ply, an All-Acrylic AcryShield System may be used.
  • Polyester fabric across the entire roof field creates an extremely durable reinforcing layer.
  • AcryShield base coats provide an additional layer of waterproofing, superior adhesion, resistance to ponded water, bleed-through protection and resistance to plasticizer migration.
  • AcryShield top coats provide industry leading UV protection, longevity and brightness. They are formulated for superior dirt pick-up resistance and protection against biological attack, such as algae and mold.

Maintenance System - AcryShield® Roof Management System (ARM)

Maintenance
  • Use of a primer, where indicated, insures excellent adhesion.
  • Custom localized reinforcement may be used where necessary.
  • AcryShield base coats provide excellent waterproofing, superior adhesion, resistance to ponded water, bleed through protection and resistance to plasticizer migration.
  • AcryShield top coats provide industry leading UV protection, longevity and brightness. They are formulated for superior dirt pick-up resistance and protection against biological attack, such as algae and mold.

New Construction & Restoration System - AcryShield® Sprayed Polyurethane Foam (SPF) Roofing System

SPF
  • SPF adds custom insulation to the roof and provides a monolithic, closed cell waterproofing layer over the entire existing roof field.
  • SPF is self-flashing and provides a custom slope roof to eliminate drainage problems.
  • AcryShield base coats provide an additional foundation layer of excellent waterproofing and provides many additional benefits such as superior adhesion and resistance to ponded water.
  • AcryShield top coats provide industry leading UV protection, longevity and brightness. Our top coats are formulated for superior dirt pick-up resistance and protection against biological attack, such as algae and mold.
  • Brilliant White Armor™ Roofing Granules may be added for appearance, impact and foot traffic protection, improved traction across the roof surface and enhanced durability.

New Construction & Tear-Off Systems - AcryPly-D™ Deck Up System

AcryPly_D-1
  • AcryShield elastomeric roof systems provide durable leak-free weatherproofing membranes with advanced UV protection; protecting the roof from UV rays decreasing the life-cycle cost of the new roof by minimizing the main cause of roof leaks and failures.
  • AcryShield base coats provide excellent adhesion and resistance to ponded water.
  • AcryShield top coats are formulated for superior dirt pick-up resistance, longevity, brightness and protection against biological attack, such as algae and mold.
  • AcryPly-D Systems have exceptional insulation R-values and have some of the highest per inch Long-Term Thermal Resistance (LTTR) values.

An Elastomeric Roof Coating System for New Construction

Posted by Nicole Gale on Tue, Mar 31, 2015 @ 08:50 AM

The AcryPly-D™ Deck-Up Systems for new construction delivers benefits that other roofing systems cannot. These systems are fully adhered, watertight and custom tailored to your buildings specific needs. These systems are available with either Foam Composite HCFC Free Polyisocyanurate Insulation or Gypsum Roof Board.

Benefits Include:

Seamless – By eliminating joints, seams, and penetrations of your roofing system you avoid premature roof failures that occur due to the lack of flexibility that the roof membrane is able to provide under stress that usually occurs at its weakest point; the seams and penetrations. As your roof ages, it becomes more difficult to remain flexible and keep up with the building expanding and contracting during daily temperature fluctuations. This movement and lack of flexibility causes tension at the joints, seams, and penetrations, resulting in the membrane ripping and tearing, leading to water penetrating into the roof system and eventually into the building. AcryPly-D elastomeric roof coating systems are spray applied across the rooftop creating a seamless, monolithic membrane that is watertight.

Therefore, this system’s thermal performance is proven to provide excellent protection against heat and cold transfer, superior energy efficiency and energy utility cost-savings.

Superior Protection – The elastomeric roof coatings used in these systems provide durable waterproofing and weatherproofing with excellent UV blocking capabilities, allowing your roof to last longer and avoid pre-mature aging. The AcryPly-D systems have exceptional fire and thermal barrier ratings along with excellent wind uplift resistance. The base coats provide outstanding adhesion and resistance to ponding water with finish coats that exhibit high resistance to  dirt pick up,, while providing longevity, brightness and protection against biological attack such as algae and mold.

Cool Roof – A cool roof provides the ability to reflect a majority of the sun’s heat away from the building, while absorbing only a minimal amount. Not only does this allow the AcryPly-D System to protect your roof against UV degradation and premature aging, it also allows the building to remain cooler in temperature while using the air-conditioning unit less. As you can imagine, this saves a tremendous amount of energy usage and cost throughout the year while providing cooler temperatures that the roof top equipment has to perform under.

Do Newly Constructed Roofs Benefit by Installing a Roof Coating System?

Posted by Nicole Gale on Tue, Oct 07, 2014 @ 09:30 AM

blue_diamond-03-chAbsolutely! A roof coating system not only provides excellent reinforcement and waterproofing to aged roofs, but they can also provide UV protection against premature aging and roof failure to new roofs.

High reflectivity is often promoted when speaking of a roof coating system because it provides two important functions, increased energy efficiency and conservation, and UV protection. Everyone is familiar with and wants to benefit from lower energy usage and costs but they often times do not realize that with those benefits comes an even better benefit – UV protection.

Roof coating systems that use highly reflective topcoats are packed with UV blocking pigments that protect your roof from the harmful and damaging UV rays the sun emits. The greater capability the roof coating has to reflect these rays away from the rooftop, the greater protection and increased longevity your roof has. White reflective roof coatings reflective a majority of the sun’s heat (aka UV rays) away from the building back into the atmosphere. This keeps your buildings’ ambient air temperature cooler, which is responsible for lowering your energy usage and costs and provides your roof with greater protection from essentially drying out – becoming brittle, cracking, splitting, separating, tearing and eventually leaking. A roof needs to expand and contract with changing air temperature fluctuations throughout the day. Unfortunately, the harmful UV rays dry out the surface of the roof, slowly destroying its ability to remain flexible. This is the reason they say the sun is the most destructive and damaging element to your roof.

Download our FREE Roof Coating Systems Benefits Brochure With that all said, a roof coating system using a highly reflective topcoat is an excellent preventative measure for a new or aged roof as they increase your roofs lifespan, lower roof maintenance costs and protect your roof from the destructive UV rays from the sun.  The AcryShield A590 topcoat is rated one of the highest reflective roof coatings in the industry. With an initial solar reflectance of 0.92 and a 3-year solar reflectance of 0.87, this roof coating is able to reflect almost all of the sun’s UV rays, leaving little for the roof to absorb any heat.
