Project Profile: A Fully Restored Roof that was Experiencing Several Failed Flashings and Numerous Leaks
The Los Positas Building in California
The BUR capsheet roof had several issues that needed resolving. This roof had numerous leaks at penetrations and equipment curbs, there were problematic pitch pans in several site screen supports and the skylight base flashings were failing. The facility managers were certain they wanted to avoid a tear-off, but needed a solution that would restore their roof to new. National Coatings technical representatives suggested a system that would restore the current roof field while lowering energy costs, they suggested the AcryShield Roof Management (ARM) System.
When installed, contractors strategically used spray polyurethane foam (SPF) at base flashings and supports to eliminate ponded water and pitch issues by custom tailoring a slope. The ARM System provided protection against harmful UV rays and IR radiation across the entire roof field, lowering energy consumption and air conditioning costs inside the building. The facility managers were pleased that this new roof not only restored their failing BUR roof into a new roof, but they avoided a costly and time consuming roof tear-off, and now have a roof that helps them lower operating costs and capital spending.
