AcryPly 3 Systems

Need a technology-driven commercial roofing system that extends the life of your roof with less roof maintenance? Consider our high performance reinforced, fully-adhered and seamless AcryPly® Commercial Roofing Systems. With these commercial roofing systems you benefit from the latest product and installation advances in environmentally-friendly water-based coatings that include reinforced asphalt emulsion and Cool Roof elastomerics. You can custom-reinforce your roof restoration for extra toughness under adverse service conditions, and you benefit from long-term warranty options and the added confidence of using qualified professional applicators.

Three Systems to Choose From:

All Acrylic
  • The AcryPly All Acrylic System offers outstanding renewable, watertight, long-lasting weatherproofing capabilities with industry leading UV protection, longevity and brightness. The acrylic top coats are formulated for superior dirt pick-up resistance and protection against biological attack, such as algae and mold. Where existing aged roof substrates are smooth, such as with single-plies (EPDM, Hypalon, PVC and TPO) an all acrylic AcryShield system may be used.
Acrylic and Emulsion
  • These systems offer the same great benefits of the All Acrylic System but is specifically formulated for use over aged asphalt, BUR and mod bit roofs. The Pro-Grade® 197 Asphalt Emulsion economically fills in any cracks and voids typically found in asphalt roofing, providing an added level of waterproofing and an excellent foundation upon which to build the balance of the membrane.
Acrylic + Silicone
  • These systems contains high solids, low VOC's, while offering a one-component, moisture-curing silicone roof coating system to restore and repair your existing roof.  With its high solids content and absence of hydrocarbon solvents, this coating can be applied in excess of 40 mils in a single coat without blistering, while maintaining maximum adhesion.

Superior Protection
  • Durable weatherproofing. Much more resistant than traditional roofing to general chemical attack from precipitation and vent emissions.
  • Total UV blocking. Protects against the main cause of roof leaks and failure.
  • Superior reinforcement.
Less Labor and More Safe
  • Often applied over existing roofs without costly tear-off and landfill waste.
  • No irritating and unpleasant odors.
  • No dangerous temperatures, hot asphalt or torches -- Only environmentally-friendly water-based systems.
  • Crews achieve much higher productivity.
  • Your money goes into safe, "sustainable technology" materials, not excess labor.
Cool Roof Solution
  • The latest in highly reflective acrylic roof coating technology.
  • Advanced chemistry resistant to dirt pickup.
  • Reflectivity up to three times greater than dark BUR, EPDM, and ModBit roofing, means large energy savings and less roof maintenance for fast paybacks on roof investments.
  • Keeps heat off your roof, reducing membrane stress and heat-accelerated degradation.
Maximum Flexibility
  • Can be applied to the broadest range of substrates including BUR, Modified Bitumen, EPDM, PVC, TPO, Hypalon, Metal and Transite.
  • Very adaptable for high-rise buildings.
  • No inconvenience to occupants during application.

What's the difference between Single-Ply and AcryPly Roof Systems

Posted by Nicole Gale on Tue, Jan 24, 2023 @ 11:19 AM

AcryPly vs Singleply

Single-Ply roofing and AcryPly Roof Systems both offer advanced capabilities and high performance solutions to the commercial roofing industry. Both products have a proven history of long-term durability, are cost-effective and offer excellent waterproofing capabilities. Manufacturing and application techniques is where these products differ.

Single-Ply roofing is pre-manufactured as a roll on roof membrane and is sold in multiple widths and lengths. These rolls are then laid across the roof field, glued or mechanically fastened to the roof substrate. Rarely do the widths of the single-ply roll accommodate a full roof therefore, requiring the rolls to be seam welded together to create a watertight roof membrane.

The AcryPly Roof System is a robust, custom system to meet the individual needs of each roof. These systems are brought to the rooftop in totes and pails of AcryShield base coat and top coat, and polyester fabric which gets embedded between the base and top coat for reinforcement and strength. The coatings are sprayed directly onto the roof, around penetrations, HVAC equipment, skylights, etc... to create a fully adhered, seamless, monolithic system across the entire roof field without any seams that can be prone to failure. The coatings offer excellent physical properties for strength, flexibility, durability and outstanding UV resistance for long-term performance.

SPF Among Top 5 Best Sustainable Roofing Materials

Posted by Nicole Gale on Tue, Jan 17, 2023 @ 12:07 PM

SPF Graphic3Spray Polyurethane Foam or SPF is not new to the roofing industry. SPF has been around for 60 plus years with excellent long-term performance capabilities. Building Enclosure Magazine named SPF one of the top 5 best sustainable roofing materials to consider for your roof. The article states, "No other roofing material has the combination of strength, formability, seamlessness and insulating value provided by spray polyurethane foam."

National Coatings agrees with this statement 100%. Studies have shown the AcryShield® SPF Roofing System has performance properties in year 15 that are equivalent to the initial installation - 15 years later the roof is still providing the same amount of strength, durability, insulation and waterproofing capabilities as it did on day 1! How's that for long-term performance!

Polyurethane Foam

For flat roofs, spray polyurethane foam is an excellent option to consider. It consists of two components (resin and polyisocyanurate) joined together with heat and pressure, which react to rise and form a solid surface. Foam has a number of distinct advantages. It is an insulating material, serves as soundproofing, adds rigidity to a structure, is lightweight and very durable. Foam has been used in roofing applications since the 1960s.

Since it is a seamless product, maintenance is fairly simple. A utility knife and a tube of caulk will serve to address most issues that might arise with a foam roof.

Polyurethane foam has one distinct disadvantage-it will break down over time when exposed to the sun. This is overcome by coating the roof with an elastomeric acrylic, silicone or polyurea, all of which block ultraviolet rays from getting at the foam. The coatings can be used to add a variety of colors to the roof system, although the lighter colors tend to add the most to the insulating value of the roof system.

Polyurethane foam can be installed to any thickness in a series of passes called "lifts." This puts insulation on the outside of the building, blocking heat or cold from passing through to the structure beneath, and vice-versa. No other roofing material has the combination of strength, formability, seamlessness and insulating value provided by spray polyurethane foam.

As society becomes more environmentally-conscious, architects and developers are converting to more "green" products for construction purposes. For more information about "green" roofing materials, be sure to reach out to your local roofing expert.

Superior Waterproofing...Sustainable Roofing

There is a roofing system engineered to last the life of your building. AcryShield® SPF Roofing Systems do not degrade like other roofs. The redundant waterproofing from long-lasting sprayed polyurethane foam (SPF roof) and high-performance acrylic roof coating also eliminates UV attack and deterioration. Roof performance properties in year 15 are equivalent to the initial installation. Consider the National Roofing Foundation’s comprehensive SPF sprayed polyurethane foam roof study where Dr. Rene M. Dupuis of Structural Research, Inc. concludes, "The field data…demonstrates that SPF roof systems provide long term performance and sustainability."

Achieve big boosts in your R-value with this fully-adhered, seamless, waterproofing system that has outstanding impact strength. Eliminate the most challenging problem of ponding water by custom tapering your roof as it is applied. All our AcryShield SPF Roofing Systems offer excellent value.
