With daylight savings ending Sunday (yes, this is our clever way of reminding you to turn the clock back an hour) we decided to take a look back in time and check out a project completed over 13 years ago and show you how durable the AcryShield Roof Management System is.
Back in 2008, the metal roof at the Lihue Airport in Kauai underwent a 146,875 sq ft AcryShield Roof Management (ARM) System renewal process in order to restore their leaking, aged metal roof. The original project was installed by Kawika's Painting, Inc. The crew at Kawika's Painting were able to seal and resolve multiple roof leaks, restore areas that had rusted metal, and give the airport a custom tinted roof to match the beautiful colors of Kauai. This was all accomplished while keeping the airport open to the public 24/7 with little to no disruptions.
Last week, we had the opportunity to visit the airport and found the roof is still in excellent working condition. Due to the high performance AcryShield roof coatings and the successful installation by Kawika's Painting, we found no chalking, no microbial growth (algae, lichen, moss, mold, etc), no rust, little to no fade on the custom color, and no dirt retention. This roof is fully protected from the elements and has consistently delivered a long-lasting, durable, watertight roofing solution to the Lihue Airport and all 2.6 million passengers and employees that go through this airport each year!
