Ball Valve Procedures for Disposable Totes

Tote Ball Procedure

Disposable totes do not have a cam-lock fitting attached to them. Contractors need to purchase a disposable ball valve when ordering their material from National Coatings. The disposable ball valve punctures through the plastic liner inside the tote. The disposable ball valve can be cleaned and reused for up to approximately 20 - 30 times.  They should be cleaned out after every use.

Instructions:

  1. Remove the fitment cap and thread on the ball valve assembly.
  2. Ensure the valve is in the opened position, push handle of the cutter tool extending the plunger into bag, then withdraw.
  3. Close the valve and unthread the cutter tool. A few ounces of product will be released; this is normal, a rag or small cup can be used to catch this.
  4. Thread on the quick connect fitment and attach your hose.
  5. Open the valve and begin dispensing.
  6. When empty, dispose of the liner. Tote can be reused, discarded or recycled.

Helpful Hints:

  • To fully automate complete dispense, use a tilt table to move the product towards the dispense fitting.
  • A 4x4 block can be put under the pallet to lift one side of the tote and move product forward or liner can be pulled up and to one side towards the end of the dispense and clamped.
  • There is no need to remove the fill cap to vent the tote as product dispenses.
  • There is no need to unstrap for dispensing.
